Day 2 of GOP convention focuses on 'Make America Work Again' theme

CLEVELAND, July 19 (UPI) -- "Make America Work Again" will be Tuesday's theme when the Republican National Convention enters its second day in Cleveland where speakers including House Speaker Paul Ryan, UFC President Dana White and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie will take center stage.

Other speakers include former presidential candidate Ben Carson, Donald Trump Jr., Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, Arkansas Attorney General Leslie Rutledge and Chris Cox, executive director of the NRA Institute for Legislative Action.

Speakers chosen for Tuesday are expected to talk about how to improve the U.S. economy.

"A Hillary Clinton presidency would merely be an Obama third term that would deliver the same poor results," RNC CEO Jeff Larson said in a statement. "Donald Trump is a successful businessman with a solid record of creating jobs and the experience we need to get America's economy up and running ... and get Americans working again."

Presumptive GOP presidential nominee Trump is scheduled to speak on Thursday, the last day of the convention. Following in the Trump campaign's "Make America Great Again" slogan -- a version of a slogan first popularized by former President Ronald Reagan in the election of 1980 -- Wednesday's theme for the RNC will be "Make America First Again," followed by "Make America One Again" on Thursday.

Other speakers to join the stage during the week include Ivanka Trump, RNC Chairman Reince Priebus, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker and Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi.

Vice presidential candidate Mike Pence, the governor of Indiana, is scheduled to speak on Wednesday.
