Former NYC Mayor Rudy Giuliani rages: 'Define our enemy'

CLEVELAND, July 18 (UPI) -- Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani delivered a stem-winder to the Republican National Convention on its opening night Monday, shouting criticism of Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, and offering effusive praise of Donald Trump, a man he's counted as a friend for 30 years.

Giuliani raged in his speech, often shouting and waving his hands, saying the "vast majority of Americans today do not feel safe."

But he also praised and defended Trump as "a man with a big heart" and condemned what he called a "vicious, nasty campaign."

Giuliani was one of many speakers Monday who tried to frame the war on terrorism by terminology, saying the United States must "define our enemy. It is Islamic extremist terrorism," he said.

"For the purposes of the media, I did not say all of Islam. I did not say most of Islam. I said Islamic extremist terrorism. You know who you are and we're coming to get you. Failing to identify them properly maligns all those good Muslims around the world who are being killed by them. They are killing more Muslims than anyone else."

He also slammed Obama's Iran nuclear deal as "one of the worst deals America ever made," making it a main reason to distrust Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.
