PROVIDENCE, R.I., June 10 (UPI) -- Human remains found behind a Providence, R.I., factory in March have been identified as a nightclub owner and presumed mob victim who disappeared more than 20 years ago.
Steven A. DiSarro from Westwood, Mass., was last seen alive in 1993.
"For 23 years, the family of Mr. DiSarro has been awaiting news of his whereabouts," said FBI special agent in charge Harold Shaw on Thursday. "The thoughts and prayers of everyone in the FBI are with them during this difficult time. Our investigation will continue to pursue those responsible for Mr. DiSarro's death in an effort to bring them to justice."
The news came as a relief to DiSarro's widow, Pamela.

"We look forward to the conclusion of the FBI's investigation so we can learn as much as possible about what really happened to Steven and finally get some closure for our family," she said.
The missing man's remains were found March 31 by police who received a tip, following a raid at the converted mill which had been used for an illegal marijuana growing operation.
DiSarro, who was 43, managed a now-defunct Boston nightclub, The Channel, and was an associate of former mob boss' son, Francis P. Salemme Jr., who was an assistant manager at his club.
In 2004, prosecutors alleged that Salemme Jr. strangled DiSarro and the murder was witnessed by his father former Boston-area mob boss Francis "Cadillac Frank" Salemme, who then then helped dispose of his body.
Salemme repeatedly denied having anything to do with DiSarro's death, but in 2008 he said that he had lied when he suggested another former mob boss was involved in it.
The son and alleged killer died in 1995. No one has ever been charged in connection with his killing.
