LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP, N.J., May 20 (UPI) -- With friends like these ...
Donald Trump, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, served as the headliner at a $200-per-plate fundraiser hosted by his rival-turned-surrogate, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, and made a few jokes at Christie's expense.
Trump chided Christie for hosting a "dinner" fundraiser where attendees were not provided tables, chairs or a sit-down meal.
"That's terrible," Trump said, laughing and gesturing to Christie, who introduced Trump as a "friend."
Trump also reiterated his statement that he's given up eating Oreo cookies after Oreo's parent company, Nabisco, said it was moving a production facility to Mexico. Trump then made a sort-of fat joke at Christie's expense.
"I'm not eating Oreos anymore," Trump said. "But neither is Chris. You are not eating Oreos anymore. No more Oreos -- for either of us. Don't feel bad."
The speech was not all laughs. Trump reiterated his belief that missing EgyptAir Flight MS804 was taken down by a terrorist attack.
Trump did not use the word "terrorism" in his remarks Thursday in New Jersey, as he did earlier in the day on Twitter. Instead, Trump said he was sure the plane was "blown out of the sky."
"If anybody thinks it wasn't blown out of the sky, you're 100 percent wrong, folks," Trump said.
The fundraiser was meant to help Christie, who previously opposed Trump in the GOP primary, pay off his campaign debt.
