Hillary Clinton: Husband Bill would be 'in charge of revitalizing the economy'

FORT MITCHELL, Ky., May 16 (UPI) -- Hillary Clinton has a job for her husband Bill if she becomes president. She said she'll put him 'in charge of revitalizing the economy."

During a rally Sunday outside a home in northern Kentucky, she said former President Bill Clinton would be well suited for the work.

"My husband, who I'm going to put in charge of revitalizing the economy, cause you know he knows how to do it," Clinton said. "And especially in places like coal country and inner cities and other parts of our country that have really been left out."

Earlier this month, also in Kentucky, she made similar comments about her husband, former President Bill Clinton. She said she had told him that he would need to "come out of retirement" to help people get jobs again.

Two days before the Democratic primary in Kentucky, she detailed her husband's economic success while president from 1993 to 2001.

Clinton lost to Bernie Sanders in the West Virginia primary last week.

In March, she was criticized for saying that as president she would "put a lot of coal miners and coal companies out of business" in transitioning the country to renewable forms of energy.

On Sunday, she emphasized the importance of helping workers.

"We can't and we must not walk away from them," she said. "I feel such a sense of obligation."

Clinton remains in Kentucky on Monday for campaign events.

Oregon also has a primary Tuesday.

Sanders traveled to Puerto Rico on Monday.

The Oregon primary is Sunday, June 5.
