WASHINGTON, March 17 (UPI) -- Caitlyn Jenner says she never endorsed Sen. Ted Cruz for president, despite saying she would like to be his ambassador to the transgender community if he win the Republican nomination.

Jenner made the remark two weeks ago to the Advocate, admitting many in the LGBT community are suspicious of Cruz for his evangelical Christian views. Jenner said she liked Cruz because he is a "constitutionalist" who could "get the country back to something like that."

Jenner said she remains confused about the GOP front-runner Donald Trump.

"He'll be great for women's issues, he says, but then he doesn't say how," she told E!. "So I don't know. We'll see what happens."

Jenner created a firestorm in the LGBT community when she said she would vote for Trump over Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton. Still, Jenner posted a photo to her Instagram account earlier this week with members of her "I Am Cait" reality show, posed with Clinton.

On Thursday, Jenner acknowledged that Cruz "would probably be the worst and need the most help" on issues confronting transgender Americans.

Jenner volunteered herself as a "trans ambassador" for Cruz. She said the campaign has not contacted her about her offer.
