CHICAGO, Jan. 15 (UPI) -- Newly released video from the Chicago Police Department shows an officer shooting an unarmed 17-year old as he ran from police, stoking further outrage in a the city reeling from a string of controversial police-involved shootings.
The video, made public nearly two years after the shooting and only after public outcry, shows Cedrick Chatman running away from Officer Kevin Fry on Jan. 7, 2013, after an alleged carjacking. Fry said he opened fire on Chatman because he thought the teen was carrying a weapon. The object was a black iPhone box.
