ATLANTA, Dec. 16 (UPI) -- Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., kept up his tradition of live-tweeting the Republican presidential debates, reiterating his charge that the candidates on stage were "out of touch."

Tuesday's debate focused on national security and terrorism, with much of the discussion dominated by the Islamic State and foreign policy in Syria. While candidates like Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., Ohio Gov. John Kasich and retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson called for American ground troops in Syria, Sanders tweeted: "A lot of talk about war. No talk about the 500,000 men and women who came home with PTSD, and traumatic brain injury."

Sanders went on to slam candidates who wish to refuse Syrian refugees entry into the United States, calling such proposals "reckless." At some point, Sanders targeted Donald Trump directly, calling upon supporters to "stop Trump."

At the end of the night, Sanders bashed the Republican candidates for failing to discuss climate change, racial injustice or income inequality.

Each of Sanders' tweets during the debate was re-tweeted between one thousand and ten thousand times.

After the debate was over, Mike Casca, a communications director for Sanders, tweeted out a link to an interview the senator did earlier in the day with rapper Killer Mike in Atlanta. In the six-part interview, the two discuss income inequality, gun control and Democratic Socialism.
