KABUL, Afghanistan, Nov. 30 (UPI) -- The U.S. Embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan, said Monday it received credible reports of an imminent attack, warning U.S. citizens there to use caution.
An embassy statement said an unspecified attack could occur in the next 48 hours, and called on citizens to "exercise extreme caution if moving around the city."
"U.S. citizens currently visiting or residing in Afghanistan may wish to consider departing," the embassy said.
The statement, formally a travel warning, didn't detail the locations of any possible attacks, but urged "U.S. citizens who decide to remain in Afghanistan to review your personal security plans, take appropriate steps to enhance your personal safety, remain aware of your surroundings, monitor local media for updates, and maintain a high level of vigilance."
The U.S. State Department has warned citizens not to travel to Afghanistan.
