WASHINGTON, Sept. 22 (UPI) -- The U.S. Transportation Security Administration found and confiscated nearly 70 firearms in passengers' carry-on luggage across the United States last week -- breaking a record set two years ago, officials said Tuesday.

The TSA announced the seizures in a blog post Tuesday detailing the firearms and the airports where they were found. The agency also posted a photo of some of the weapons in an Instagram post.

Of the 67 firearms found, officials said, 56 were loaded -- and 26 of those had a bullet in the chamber ready to fire.

Additionally, several knives and 19 stun guns were caught by security agents. No firearms, ammunition, stun guns or knives are allowed on commercial flights except in declared, checked luggage.

The number of firearms caught last week set a new record, the TSA said, over 65 that were confiscated in 2013.
