Hillary Clinton comments on Humans of New York photo of distraught gay youth

"I'm homosexual and I'm afraid about what my future will be and that people won't like me," an unidentified gay youth told the popular Humans of New York blog.

NEW YORK, July 5 (UPI) -- Hillary Clinton has left a reassuring comment for a young gay teen whose photo went viral when he was featured on the popular photography blog Humans of New York.

"I'm homosexual and I'm afraid about what my future will be and that people won't like me," the unidentified boy is quoted as saying.

The post, which was published on July 3, immediately went viral, garnering more than 600,000 likes, with commenters praising the boy's bravery and offering messages of support.

It also attracted the attention of presidential candidate and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who left the most popular comment on the post.

"Prediction from a grown-up: Your future is going to be amazing," she wrote. "You will surprise yourself with what you're capable of and the incredible things you go on to do. Find the people who love and believe in you -- there will be lots of them."

The comment was signed "H," which means the message came directly from Clinton and not from a member of her staff.

"Thanks for this Ms. Clinton," Humans of New York creator Brandon Stanton replied.

Ellen DeGeneres also left a reassuring comment for the boy.

"Not only will people like you, they'll love you," DeGeneres wrote. "I just heard of you and I love you already."

"I'm homosexual and I'm afraid about what my future will be and that people won't like me."
