Former Qdoba employee helps feed disabled customer

LOUISVILLE, Ky., May 14 (UPI) -- A random act of kindness was caught on camera, the footage showed former Qdoba employee Ridge Quarles helping a disabled customer eat her food.

Quarles was the shift manager at the Louisville, Ky., location of the Mexican restaurant, at the time the incident was recorded.

The disabled customer was a regular at the eatery and the employees even knew her order down to the specifics: A taco salad with hot sauce and cheese for lunch and a burrito with hot sauce and cheese for dinner.

"She didn't get to get out of her house very often," Quarles said to NBC affiliate,WAVE3. "But whenever she did, she always told me, 'Ridge, this is my most favorite place to eat.'"

One afternoon as Quarles delivered her typical order to where she was sitting, he asked, "Is there anything else I can help you with?" she responded, "Sir, if you don't mind, could you help me eat?" and without hesitation he did just that.

Another patron who witnessed the touching moment decided to grab his phone and film it. Dr. David Jones originally wanted to capture the moment so he could show his friends that good people still exist.

"He didn't stop to think about, 'Well, should I help her, should I not?' He just went over, put the gloves on and started feeding her," Jones said. "It seems to me that if everybody in the world would just use the little simple gift that they have to maybe benefit somebody else, think what the world would be like."

Even before the video went viral, Quarles left his job at Qdoba and graduated from Sullivan University. He posted about the incident on his Facebook page on Monday, saying, "Today I had the honor to accept public acknowledgment for helping someone else in need. I'm very glad to have had the opportunity to impact lives around me. Go out and help someone today and pay it forward. Happy day everyone"
