WASHINGTON, April 9 (UPI) -- Sen. Harry Reid said he can't see out of his right eye after a fall in his home gym earlier this year.
Eleven hours of surgery couldn't heal the injury from the accident, in which an exercise band he was using snapped. Reid, the Senate minority leader, fell, breaking four ribs and some bones around his eye.
"I am sightless in my right eye," Reid told Univision. "They've tried but I still cannot see."
Reid is having problems specifically with depth perception, mainly when he uses stairs. But he says he can live with it.
Since he returned to work,, he has been using glasses that protect the eye.
Reid, who is not running for the re-election in 2016, said he wants to focus more on returning Democrat power to the Senate. He said his injury did not affect that decision.
