RED LODGE, Mo., March 29 (UPI) -- Dozens of firefighters are combating an unseasonable wildfire that led to the temporary evacuation of a ski resort in southern Montana.
The fire, fueled by strong winds, expanded to 700 acres, about one mile, and threatened the town of Red Lodge, forcing the temporary evacuation of the Red Lodge Mountain resort. Authorities believe the fire started on private property at about noon on Saturday and that 35 to 50 mile per hour winds fanned flames into the Custer National Forest.
