HOUSTON, March 17 (UPI) -- Houston police searched through the condominium of Robert Durst, the subject of the HBO true-crime series The Jinx, on Tuesday.

Members of the Houston Police Department and Durst's lawyer, Chip Lewis, declined to explain what investigators were looking for at the high-rise apartment.

Durst was arrested over the weekend in New Orleans for allegedly killing his friend, Susan Berman, in 2000. Prosecutors in Los Angeles on Monday charged him with first-degree murder.

It's unclear if the search is related to Berman's death or perhaps another case against the eccentric real estate heir.

A neighbor told KTRK-TV, Houston, Durst left the apartment last week with two suitcases and his assistant returned days later and removed the majority of his possessions.

Durst awaits extradition to Los Angeles.
