Girl Scouts open drive-thru services in Vermont and New Hampshire

By Andrew V. Pestano

SALEM, N.H., March 11 (UPI) -- Girl Scouts have opened some drive-thru services in New Hampshire and Vermont, easing the public's accessibility to Thin Mints, Samoas and other cookies.

The Girl Scouts of the Green and White Mountains are working to reach a goal of 1,265,000 boxes sold, Patricia Mellor, council CEO, told ABC News.

"They've been selling at banks, roping off drive-thru areas in shopping malls, and parking lots," Mellor said. "The girls make up the signs, they are the salespeople but the adults are there to supervise to make sure they're safe."

The cookie-selling program not only provides customers with delicious cookies, but also teaches important lessons such as money management, people skills and business ethics, according to troop leaders.

It is not known how many boxes the girls have sold. There are about 2.8 million Girl Scouts nationwide.
