WASHINGTON, March 4 (UPI) -- A lone gunman responsible for several shootings in the Washington, D.C. area, including near the National Security Agency headquarters early Wednesday, has been arrested, the FBI said.

The suspect, whose name and age was not released, is thought to be responsible for shootings on the Intercounty Connector in Maryland, near the NSA at Fort Meade and other locations around the Baltimore and D.C. suburb area in the past two weeks. Two people sustained minor injuries in one of the incidents. There have been no reports of serious injuries.

"We believe the subject responsible for shooting incidents on the ICC, near Fort Meade Army installation and other locations around the Baltimore-Washington metro area in the last two weeks is in custody," said Amy Thoreson, spokeswoman for the FBI's Baltimore office.

On Tuesday, a landscaping truck was struck by gunfire while traveling on the highway near Interstate 95. Later the same day, gunshots hit a building on the NSA campus. There was damage done to one of the buildings. There have been three other shootings in the area since Feb. 24, including near a theater and a Walmart.

Although no one was seriously injured, the shootings brought back memories of the 2002 sniper attacks in the D.C. area. Ten people were killed in a three-week period.
