CAMBRIDGE, Mass., Feb. 22 (UPI) -- Newly discovered documents show prominent scientist Dr. Wei-Hock Soon, who denies human involvement in climate change, accepted over $1.2 million from the fossil-fuel industry.
Soon, a recurring guest on conservative news shows, is known for his theories that link climate change to the sun, rather than human activity.
The documents showing Soon's financial backers were obtained by Greenpeace through the Freedom of Information Act and shared online. Some documents show Soon describing scientific papers as "deliverables" when communicating with his corporate funders.
Soon did not disclose his financial backing in at least 11 scientific papers since 2008, according to the New York Times.
The documents show Soon accepted $400,000 from the Southern Company, an energy company that produces much of its power from gas and coal, and he accepted $200,000 from the Charles G. Koch Charitable Foundation, an organization tied to the oil industry.
Soon has not commented on the newly released information.
