SEATTLE, Feb. 12 (UPI) -- Amanda Knox, the Seattle woman who was convicted, acquitted and later convicted again for the murder of Meredith Kercher in 2007, has gotten engaged.

People magazine reports the 27-year-old writer is set to marry musician Colin Sutherland who recently relocated from NYC to Seattle.

Knox was accused in 2007 of murdering British student Kercher while they were both studying abroad in Perugia, Italy. She and her then-boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito were convicted of the killing and spent four years in prison before a superior court overturned the ruling and set them free in 2011. A third person, Rudy Guede, was also convicted for Kercher's murder and is currently serving his time.

Italy's Supreme Court overturned the second ruling in 2013. Knox and Sollecito appealed the case again and are expected to learn the new verdict in March.

In 2013 Knox released Waiting To be Heard, a book detailing her experiences from the moment she arrived in Italy, through her trial, time in jail and eventual release from prison. As of last year she was working as a freelance writer for the Seattle newspaper West Seattle Herald.
