Malia Obama touring colleges in New York City

The 17-year-old high school student visited Columbia University and New York University on Friday.

NEW YORK CITY, N.Y., Feb. 8 (UPI) -- President Barack Obama's eldest daughter will be off to college soon -- and she's thinking about the Big Apple.

Malia, 17, visited New York University and Columbia University on Friday with her mother, first lady Michelle Obama, and a group of Secret Service agents.

A source told student blog NYU local that Malia toured Goddard Hall with an admissions ambassador.

Diners also saw Michelle and Malia dining at Community Food & Juice in Morningside Heights, where Columbia University is located.

Malia is currently a student at Sidwell Friends, a private high school in Washington, D.C.
