DEBARY, Fla., Feb. 3 (UPI) -- A DeBary, Fla., man was arrested Sunday after he allegedly killed five alligators for his Super Bowl meal, wildlife officials said.

Richard Nixie, 30, was arrested for allegedly killing the five small alligators without a trapping license and harvesting tag. Each was less than 5 feet long.

"No one should have possession of a Florida alligator unless they are a state nuisance-alligator trapper," Greg Workman, a spokesman for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, told the Orlando Sentinel. "It's not just a free-for-all."

Nixie was released from Volusia County, Fla., County Branch Jail on $500 bail. He is scheduled to appear before a judge March 3.
