NEW YORK, Jan. 21 (UPI) -- Chelsea Clinton sat down for an interview about her new daughter Charlotte and said her challenge is competing with her parents for story time.

In the video interview with People magazine featuring Elmo, she stressed the importance of reading to her daughter.

"We all kind of compete to see who's going to read her stories," she said of her, her husband and her parents.

The 34-year-old mother said she regrets telling her mom not to sing to her when she was a toddler because she loves watching her sing to Charlotte.

Former President Bill Clinton told Seth Meyers in a recent interview he loves being a grandfather.

"It's really wonderful," he said. "I love it. Like every other grandparent, I think my granddaughter's the greatest thing since sliced bread. It's really fun."

Clinton said her father carries Charlotte past bookshelves, pointing to books and telling her which ones she'll be reading when she's older.

"It's so sweet," she said.

Clinton touched on her mother's potential 2016 presidential run, saying she is waiting for the news like everyone else.

"No, I'm waiting too. It's really sweet how my mom is just so clearly happy being a grandma and I know she's going to be a great grandma, whatever other choices she makes in her life."
