PHOENIX, Jan. 14 (UPI) -- Cleveland Cavaliers small forward LeBron James pushed his head coach David Blatt in Cleveland's 107-100 loss to the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday.

"He was trying to keep me from getting a technical foul," Blatt said.

James began to argue with a referee after an offensive foul was called against him. Blatt joined the discussion.

"I got called for an offensive foul," James said after the game. "Coach Blatt was getting a little fired up about it, too, and he was on his way to a technical. So I just got him up out of the way before he got a T. So, just protecting my coach."

The incident comes after an ESPN report stating that Coach Blatt is not reaching his players.

The loss to the Suns is the first game in two weeks for James who went through rehabilitation because of strains to his left knee and his back.
