LOS ANGELES, Jan. 6 (UPI) -- Officials are offering a $25,000 reward for information that will lead to an arrest and conviction in the death of a 3 week-old girl whose body was found in a trash bin. Police said they have few leads in the case and are turning to the public for help.

Eliza Delacruz was taken from a home in Long Beach on Saturday night after her mother, father and uncle had been shot, police said. She was found about 100 miles away the next day, dead in a strip mall dumpster.

"We need to get the coward who committed this violent, senseless act off the street," Long Beach Police Chief Robert Luna said. "Somebody, somewhere, saw what happened, and we need you to come forward."

Authorities said Delacruz's father returned home from work on Saturday and watched his girlfriend feed his newborn daughter. "Without warning, a male suspect entered the room and started shooting," Los Angeles County Supervisor Don Knabe told the Long Beach Press-Telegram.

The girl's father was treated at a local hospital and released. The mother and uncle are in critical condition. Police said there is no known motive for the shooting.
