WASHINGTON, Jan. 6 (UPI) -- Rep. John Boehner shrugged off a rebellion from his own party Tuesday to take a third term as the U.S. House of Representatives speaker.

Boehner, of Ohio, took 216 of the 408 votes. Of those, 25 Republicans voted for other lawmakers including Louie Gohmert of Texas, Jim Jordan of Ohio, and Ted Yoho and Daniel Webster, both of Florida.

The re-election came despite frustrations among some lawmakers, including the Tea Party group, who consider Boehner too quick to compromise with the Obama administration.
