HOUSTON, Dec. 9 (UPI) -- Police in Houston are on the hunt for a man and his infant son after the boy's mother was found dead in a refrigerator in her apartment.

An Amber Alert was issued Monday for Achilles Lambert, aged 11 months. Neither the child nor his father, Patrick Lambert, 38, have been seen in a week.

Employees at the southwest Houston apartment discovered the body of a woman after noticing a strong odor coming from her unit Monday afternoon.

Police said there was no obvious struggle in the apartment, and said she and her son were last seen a week ago.

"We've been unable to contact any family to help see if the child is with anybody else," said Sgt. Jason Robles, a homicide detective with the Houston police.

"There has been a male seen staying there on and off," Robles said. "We're looking for him solely as a person of interest."

Patrick Lambert is described as black and 5 feet 11 inches tall. There was no information on what vehicle he might be driving.

He was described as staying at the apartment with the mother and Achilles "on and off."

Police have not identified the woman in the apartment, although they believe she is the person who lived there. She hadn't been seen in a week, and while power was shut off on Nov. 20 over unpaid bills, she was not facing eviction.

"Our biggest concern right now [is] making sure the boy is safe," Robles said. "It's going to be in the public's hands right now. Anybody who knows Mr. Lambert or the family is asked to call the homicide division."
