During an interview with ABC, President Obama said America wants a "new car smell" and that Hillary Clinton would make a "terrific" president.
"She hasn't announced, so I don't want to jump the gun," he said. "She and a number of other possible Democratic candidates would be terrific presidents." He did not say who else he would support.
"When you've been president for six years, you get some dings," the president said. He thinks the American public will be happy to have another person take office, since they've experienced so much with him, and he believes it could be another Democrat.
The president said he wants to do whatever he can to make sure the next president is a Democrat, including simply trying to make the government better every day, but he doesn't believe the Democrats will ask him to be part of any campaigns. "They're probably not going to be looking at me to campaign too much," he said.
