NEW YORK, Nov. 17 (UPI) -- French tourist Jonathan Souid was arrested Sunday after climbing the Brooklyn Bridge to take a photograph.

Souid, masked and wearing a blue hoodie, climbed over the fence on the sidewalk of the bridge and then scaled a beam over Manhattan-bound traffic. He took photographs of the New York skyline around midday from the top of the northern-most cable on the Brooklyn side of the bridge.

He has been charged with reckless endangerment and criminal trespassing.

This is a recurring problem for the city. The NYPD and Mayor Bill de Blasio suffered an embarrassment after two German artists climbed to the top of the bridge and replaced the American flag with white ones. The two artists dropped the flags off at the U.S. Embassy in Germany, and they were then sent to New York.

Later, a Russian adrenaline junkie climbed to the top of one of the towers of the bridge despite assurances of improved security.

"It just seems like it keeps happening," said Manhattanite Neil Heck. "There's no security up there."
