Charles Manson granted marriage license to wed 26-year-old

CORCORAN, Calif., Nov. 17 (UPI) -- There may be wedding bells in Charles Manson's immediate future after he was granted a marriage license to wed 26-year-old Afton Elaine Burton.

The notorious murderer has 90 days from the date of marriage license issuance — Nov. 7 — to marry Burton, who goes by the name Star, before the license expires.

Manson, 80, is currently serving two life sentences at Corcoran State Prison for the murders of several people, including actress Sharon Tate. California state law permits inmates to marry anyone but a fellow inmate in the same institution.

Unfortunately for the couple, California prison inmates no longer get conjugal visits for inmates with life sentences.

Burton has become one of Manson's most loyal supporters in recent years, and even carved an 'X' into her forehead as Manson once did. Manson has since changed the 'X' into the shape of a swastika.

The couple are allowed to invite up to free non-inmates as guests to their wedding. Burton will be Manson's third wife.
