Police say he confessed to stabbing his father, Gerald Barrett, in the neck with a bread knife on Thursday afternoon after the 64-year-old man turned off the TV he was watching. According to an arrest report, Barrett told his father he would kill him if he didn't lay on the floor.

Gerald Barrett was rushed to the hospital after calling his daughter, who alerted authorities. His condition is currently unknown.

Neil Barrett's sister told authorities that her brother has a history of making deadly threats to their parents.

Last month in Fellsmere, Fla., a man was arrested for stabbing his nephew in the stomach during an altercation about pork chops.
