SWAMPSCOTT, Mass., Nov. 10 (UPI) -- Massachusetts authorities are searching for a young Swampscott mother who has not been seen since Thursday evening.

The family of Jamiee Mendez, 25, said she is diabetic and has a five-year-old son, and said they are concerned she disappeared under suspicious circumstances.

Essex County District Attorney's Office confirmed the family filed a missing person's report on Saturday afternoon.

Her family said the last anyone heard from Mendez, she had called two friends to say she was with a male and uncomfortable.

"She was worried, she was freaked out, she was with this guy, he was acting weird, she wanted to get out of there," said sister Alyssa Mendez. "The guy that she called went to pick her up and she never showed. And that's it. That's the last time anyone heard from her."

Police would not confirm the family's reports that investigating officers found items, including shoes, they believe belonged to Mendez behind a dumpster at a CVS in Lynn.

Mendez's father, Stephen Mendez, said she did not have her medicine for her diabetes with her.

"She can't go four days without her insulin," Stephen Mendez said. Besides, "her son is severely autistic."

"She would be home to see him every single day," he said. "She would never -- I don't think she's ever spent a day away from her son."

Massachusetts State Police, as well as local police in Lynn, Swampscott and Salem, are investigating.
