Version of underground online drug market, Silk Road, is back after FBI shutdown

The new version of Silk Road is said to be a renaming of an existing market.

After the FBI shut down the underground online drug market, Silk Road 2.0, on Nov. 6, Silk Road 3 Reloaded has appeared.

Though the website is a genuine drug market, it existed before Silk Road 2.0 was raided by the FBI, The Daily Dot points out. The website was formerly named "Diabolus Market" and changed its name after Silk Road 2.0 was shut down to attract users.

The person allegedly running Silk Road 2.0, 26-year-old Blake Benthall, has been charged by the FBI and faces possible jail time.

"Let's be clear -- this Silk Road, in whatever form, is the road to prison. Those looking to follow in the footsteps of alleged cybercriminals should understand that we will return as many times as necessary to shut down noxious online criminal bazaars. We don't get tired," the FBI said after shutting down Silk Road 2.0.
