WASHINGTON, Oct. 22 (UPI) -- An Ohio man has confessed to the murder of his pregnant girlfriend and led police to the spot where he buried her body near a Groveport church.

Columbus Police say Jacob Ferrero, 22, admitted to killing Samantha Greenlee, 22, and setting her apartment on fire in an attempt to cover up the crime.

Ferrero has been charged with murder and aggravated arson.

Greenlee was last seen on Oct. 8 after leaving her job at a restaurant, and was reported missing when she missed a doctor's appointment. The apartment was set on fire the same day, Oct. 10.

Her family said they became suspicious of Ferrero when he failed to report her missing.

"I suspected, because her car was there," said Darlene Byas, Greenlee's grandmother. "They had an argument that night. She had been missing and her house was set on fire Friday."

Police investigators said they had interviewed Ferrero several times and were preparing to give him a lie-detector test when he confessed to the crime early Wednesday.

Sgt. Rich Weiner said Ferrero told police how he had killed Greenlee, but police were not ready to release that information.

"We still have to verify through the autopsy," Weiner said.

Greenlee, who was three months pregnant, had been dating Ferrero for about five months, and they were living together.

"I know they got in a lot of fights," said Estellia Sheridan, a cousin, adding that Greenlee had called the police on Ferrero on multiple occasions, and had moved out of their apartment in September, only to return a week later.

"She was trying to get the relationship to work because of the baby," Sheridan said. "She was so happy about the baby."
