U.S. Senator Ted Cruz wins Values Voters straw poll

U.S. Senator Ted Cruz wins the Values Voters straw poll, Dr. Ben Carson comes in second.

WASHINGTON, Sept. 27 (UPI) -- For the second year in a row, Senator Ted Cruz wins the Values Voters straw poll.

Coming in second, Dr. Ben Carson.


Once again, Cruz and Carson get the most votes in the straw poll.

Last year Cruz bested Carson by 29 percent.

This year that margin was only 5 percent.

Rounding out the top five: Former Governors Mike Huckabee and Rick Santorum while Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal and Kentucky Senator Rand Paul tied for fifth.

The Values Voters Summit is holding its ninth conference this weekend in Washington.

The conference wraps up on Sunday, it draws thousands of conservative politicians and activists nationwide to hear speeches from guests and vote in the annual straw poll.
