WASHINGTON, Sept. 17 (UPI) -- A Tennessee woman was charged with the murder of a Knoxville man Monday after her alleged accomplice was shot to death at a Pigeon Forge restaurant.
Monica Leigh-Ann Briggs was arrested Saturday at a Wendy's in Pigeon Forge in connection with the murder of Kenneth G. Koster, whose body was found shot to death last week.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation had been seeking Briggs and James Brad Phillips for questioning in connection to Koster's murder.
Phillips, 43, was shot and killed by police around 9:40 p.m. in the parking lot of the Wendy's. Briggs was with Phillips at the time, and was arrested on public intoxication charges.
She pleaded not guilty to premeditated felony murder, and bail was set at $750,000.
Briggs told police she assisted in planning and competing Koster's murder, according to the TBI. She allegedly told investigators she put a gun to Koster's head and pulled the trigger.
Koster's body was found wrapped in plastic, and a handgun, cleaning supplies and a rifle were found nearby. His bloody clothes, wallet and Briggs' wallet were later found in the pickup truck in which Briggs fled the scene.
