WASILLA, Alaska, Sept. 11 (UPI) -- A Florida man has been charged with stalking Bristol Palin.
Peter P.W. Ferrero, 25, of Southwest Ranches, Fla., was arrested and charged with stalking in the first degree after he showed up outside the television personality's home in Wasilla, Alaska, on Sunday. Palin recognized Ferrero from the hundreds of messages he had sent her on Facebook, and ran across the street with her son to call 911.
Ferrero told police he arrived in Alaska on September 3, and came to the state to "live the Alaskan life." He claimed he was searching for a bed and breakfast when he got hot and threw his sweatshirt, which "happened to land on Palin's third-story balcony." He climbed up to the balcony and waited there for an hour until he heard Palin's car arrive and approached her. He later admitted to knowing she lived in the area.
Palin's sister Willow said Ferrero had contacted Bristol several times by phone, and "thought he was in some type of relationship with her." He would write Palin from new identities when she blocked his profile on Facebook, and had sent her almost 1,000 messages since March.
Ferrero was previously convicted for aggravated stalking in Alachua County, and was released from prison in December 2013.
