Yosemite wildfire forces hundreds to evacuate

Wildfire near Yosemite National Park in California has led to the evacuation of 700 homes and the injury of one firefighter.

MARIPOSA, Calif., Sept. 6 (UPI) -- A wildfire raging near Yosemite National Park in California forced the evacuation of 700 homes in the Ponderosa Basin area.

The so-called Bridge wildfire started Friday afternoon in Mariposa County and has burned at least 300 acres.

The Cal Fire Twitter account said the blaze was 25 percent contained Saturday.

One firefighter sustained a minor injury while battling the fire. He was taken to a hospital for treatment, Cal Fire spokeswoman Karen Guillemin told the Los Angeles Times.

Investigators are working to determine the cause of the wildfire.
