MARIETTA, Ga., Sept. 5 (UPI) -- Cobb County police arrested kindergarten teacher Judy Bingham for allegedly dragging one of her students by his ankle twice.
Bingham, a teacher at Tritt Elementary School, was charged with one felony count of cruelty to children and simple battery, a misdemeanor. The incident reportedly happened on August 15 but was not investigated until the student's parent emailed the principal upon being informed of the incident.
Bingham allegedly, "grabbed a student by the ankle and dragged him across the classroom, causing him to hit his head on the floor," after a paraprofessional in the classroom said he didn't listen, according to the police report. She then reportedly dragged him "by the ankle, out the classroom, down the hallway and to the front office."
A 4th grader witnessed the incident and informed his or her parents.
A school district spokesperson said Bingham is "no longer in the classroom."
