Broadway will dim lights for Robin Williams Wednesday

WASHINGTON, Aug. 13 (UPI) -- The Great White Way will pay tribute to a legend in the best way it knows how: Broadway theaters will dim the lights in honor of Robin Williams.

Theaters will go dark for one minute at exactly 7:45 p.m. Wednesday in honor of Williams, who died Monday at the age of 63.

"Robin Williams was a comedic genius with limitless talent and stunning versatility who left this world far too early," said Charlotte St. Martin, executive director of The Broadway League in a statement. "He made an impact on everyone he met or entertained."

While Williams was best known for his film roles, he made his Broadway debut in 2002 with his acclaimed 3-night standup show, Robin Williams: Live on Broadway. And in 2011, he returned to star in Bengal Tiger at the Bagdhad Zoo, a Pulitzer Prize-nominated play by Rajiv Joseph, for which Williams was nominated for a Drama League Award.
