LANDOVER, Md., Aug. 11 (UPI) -- Maryland police are asking for the public's help as they hunt for a man charged with shooting and killing a 3-year-old Sunday afternoon.

According to Prince George's County police, on Sunday afternoon 25-year-old Davon Antwan Wallace and another man got into a physical altercation after arguing in front of a Landover home. After the fight ended, Wallace allegedly retrieved a handgun and opened fire upon the home, believing the other man was inside.

Three-year-old Knijah Amore Bibb was on the home's second floor when she was struck by at least one of Wallace's shots. The toddler was rushed to a nearby hospital but succumbed to her injuries.

Local ABC affiliate WJLA discovered Wallace has a long criminal history, with at least 19 separate cases dating back to 2008, primarily for drug offenses. It remains unclear if the altercation that led to Knijah's death was drug related, but police do not believe she was intentionally targeted.

"The young girl we do not believe was in any way an intended target," Lt. Bill Alexander told WTOP. "This is obviously horrific, collateral violence."

Police are offering up to $25,000 for information leading Wallace's arrest.
