NEW YORK, Aug. 5 (UPI) -- Roughly a dozen people are injured after a pair of double-decker buses collided in Times Square on Tuesday afternoon.
Just before 3:30 p.m. the two buses hit each other when, according to witnesses, one of the buses was speeding down 7th Avenue near 47th.
The FDNY has confirmed 11 injuries from the crash, mostly to pedestrians, although the latest reports have indicated that number has risen to 14. Three of the injuries were serious, but authorities do not believe any of them to be life-threatening.
Multiple ambulances were dispatched to the scene and the injured were transported to Mount Sinai-Roosevelt and Bellevue Hospitals.
"Everybody was stable," FDNY EMS Deputy Chief John Wieland told CBS New York. "Everybody's going to recover from this. Thank God that nobody was really badly hurt."
