NEW YORK, July 18 (UPI) -- Civil rights activist the Rev. Al Sharpton is meeting with the family of Eric Garner to call for an investigation into his death at the hands of the New York Police Department.
Garner, 43, died Thursday while an NYPD officer held him in a choke hold. A group of officers was attempting to arrest the father of six and grandfather of two for allegedly selling untaxed cigarettes.
