WASHINGTON, July 8 (UPI) -- The Virginia blogger hired by the Washington Redskins to defend their team name announced his resignation on Twitter Monday night. The organization hired Ben Tribbett las month to "help guide the team's battle over their controversial nickname."

Tribbett told the Washington Post his resignation "was not reflective of me changing my position on this at all. I supported the Redskins before I took this job. ... I think that's how they found me. I still support them. I don't think [the name is] a slur."
