Jerry Sandusky's son, Matt, talks alleged abuse allegations with Oprah Winfrey

CHICAGO, July 8 (UPI) -- Jerry Sandusky's adopted son sat down with Oprah Winfrey in his first-ever televised interview, which is set to air July 17 on the OWN network.

Matt Sandusky, 35, met Jerry and his wife, Dottie, through the former assistant Penn State football coach's charity, Second Mile. He was eventually adopted by the family.

Matt told police in 2012, just days after the start of Sandusky's trial, that he was molested by him as a child. Sandusky was eventually convicted 45 counts of child abuse and sentenced to 30 to 60 years in prison.

The OWN promo gives very little away about the interview, except for a short soundbite in which Matt says, "At bedtime, his ritual began."

Dottie has accused Matt of lying about the alleged abuse, writing in a series of letters to the judge who sentenced Sandusky that her adopted son was a thief and liar.

"We have forgiven him many times for all he has done to our family, thinking that he was changing his life, but he would always go back to his stealing and lies. He has been [diagnosed] bipolar, but he refuses to take his medicine," she said.
