Poll: Barack Obama considered the 'worst president' since WWII

WASHINGTON, July 2 (UPI) -- A new poll from Quinnipiac University has found that many people consider President Barack Obama to be the worst president since World War II and think that Mitt Romney would have been a better choice in 2012.

According to the poll, 33 percent of respondents named Obama as the worst president since WWII, while 28 percent ranked George W. Bush as the worst of the post-war presidents.

"Over the span of 69 years of American history and 12 presidencies, President Barack Obama finds himself with President George W. Bush at the bottom of the popularity barrel," said Tim Malloy, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll.

Quinnipiac also found that 45 percent of respondents felt the country would have been better off if Romney had been elected, and only 38 percent still believe Obama was the better choice.

"Would Mitt have been a better fit? More voters in hindsight say yes," Malloy said.

Ronald Reagan was named as the best president since WWII with 35 percent of the vote. Bill Clinton was next with 18 percent followed by John F. Kennedy with 15 percent.

Only eight percent of respondents felt that Obama was the best post-WWII president.
