DAVIE, Fla., June 23 (UPI) -- Police in Florida are investigating a grisly incident after a landscaper was found dead, having apparently fallen in a large wood chipper.

Local police arrived on the scene after a call from a passing driver who noticed the man being sucked into the industrial wood chipper.

The victim is believed to have been working with two other men for a local landscaping crew, but authorities are not sure how he fell into the wood chipper. Police say it was obvious the man was dead when they arrived.

According to Miami NBC affiliate WTVJ, OSHA reported 11 wood chipper deaths in the United States between 2000 and 2013, but none in Florida.
