AUSTIN, Texas, June 23 (UPI) -- A new smartphone app called BrewDrop is aiming to be the GrubHub of adult beverages, offering customers at home alcohol delivery with just a few simple taps.

"We got the idea at [co-creator Matt Bell's] wedding, where [I] was sent to get a few things but came back with completely different items," said Bell's brother and fellow co-creator Andrew Bell.

Back by a $50,000 seed fund raised by the brothers, BrewDrop launched over the weekend, making its first delivery Sunday. Although for now the app only offers delivery services, the Bells want to expand into community events based around Austin's local craft beer scene.

"It is expected of you to have a big knowledge of beer if you plan to work for BrewDrop and the we have experience in home brewing," Andrew told TechCrunch.

"We plan to offer continuing services, such as a 'craft beer of the week' subscription service and local events like beer and wine trades."

BrewDrop is available for free, but charges $5 for each delivery.
