NOUMA, La., June 14 (UPI) -- The identities were revealed of the two people who died in a helicopter crash Wednesday in the Gulf of Mexico.
"Westwind is saddened to report that its pilot, George LeLoup of Britt, Minn., was killed along with Rory Bourgeois, an HVAC Technician with BNA Marine Services," said a statement from Westwind Helicopters Inc., the company that operated the helicopter.
"Everyone at Westwind offers their deepest condolences to George's family and friends and to the family and friends of Mr. Bourgeois," the statement continued. "We are keeping those affected in our prayers during this difficult time."
The helicopter, a Bell 206-L4 aircraft, was contracted by oil and gas company Wood Group and crashed about 90 miles from Houma, La., as it approached an oil rig's platform.
The two bodies and helicopter were recovered from the water Thursday.
The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the cause of the crash.
