REDWOOD CITY, Calif., June 5 (UPI) -- A California man who continued to drive in spite of seizures has been convicted of the second-degree murder of two people killed in a crash.
In addition to the two counts. of murder, a jury in San Mateo County also found Rodney Corsiglia, 51, of San Bruno guilty Wednesday of vehicular manslaughter, reckless driving, and driving when his license was suspended.
District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe said the state Division of Motor Vehicles suspended Corsiglia's license in 2011. He took medication for his seizures and had been involved in seven crashes since 2002.
When Corsiglia was arrested in 2012, Wagstaffe said that he had had two crashes in one day. The prosecutor said Corsiglia damaged his car in the first and then crashed a rental car.
On 2012, Corsiglia had a seizure while at the wheel of his pickup truck in San Bruno, Wagstaffe said. He barreled into cars stopped for a red light, killing two cousins, Usbaldo Gomez, 37, and Arnulfo Picazo, 39, who were headed to a party after a baptism, and seriously injuring two other people.
Corsiglia is scheduled to be sentenced July 30.
