NEW YORK, June 2 (UPI) -- V. Stiviano, the woman who released a recording of Clippers owner Donald Sterling on a racist rant, was assaulted by two men Sunday in New York, her lawyer said.

The alleged assault took place as Stiviano, her sister and friends left a restaurant by the Gansevoort Hotel in Manhattan.

Stiviano's attorney, Mac Nehoray, told CNN the two men followed the women and yelled racial slurs. He said the men punched Stiviano in the face several times, causing the right side of her face to be red and swollen.

Nehoray said he expects Stiviano to file a police report Monday.
